Lake Norman NC
has a busy calendar of events all year long. To begin, there are boat shows and fishing tournaments, county fairs and home and garden tours. The Lake Norman Festival in nearby Mooresville is usually held in May and includes a parade and fireworks. There are other festivals throughout the season, such as the Old Time Fiddlers and Bluegrass Festival in Mooresville and the Apple Festival, usually held in September in Lincolnton. One of the most popular events in the Lake Norman area is the annual Carolina Renaissance Festival held in Davidson, usually held in October. Thousands come each year to see a living 16th century village come to life, and mingle with townspeople in period dress while they enjoy the entertainment, food and games. The Renaissance Festival runs weekends, October through November. Another event unique to the area is the Loch Norman Highland Games. Usually held the third full weekend in April in Huntersville, the games are full of fun times but is also meant to educate the public on the culture and contribution of the Scotch and Scotch-Irish. For sports fans, a twenty-minute drive will take you to the city of Charlotte and the Lowe’s Motor Speedway, or a baseball game with the Triple A Charlotte Knights. For those in the mood for shopping, there are antiques & collectibles shows held every month of the year at the Metrolina Expo in Lake Norman.
